Life is a continuous journey. It begins with seemingly innocent, inconsequential actions that, over time, create patterns and become incredible forces of nature. There is no end to this journey, at the top of one mountain another mountain waits to be climbed. It is a continuous circle, which means at every point of the journey we must be flexible to change. As Douglas MacArthur said, “Life is a lively process of becoming.” It is about embracing self discovery, self improvement and self realization.
Let’s take an example. A family has a girl. Her life is a circle of becoming: first a daughter, then a sister. One day she marries and becomes a wife. She has children and rises to another level in her career, becoming a mum and an executive. Years down the line she is a CEO, and when her own children have children she becomes a CEO who is a grandmother. The same person becomes different people through her life journey. Along the way she encounters challenges that test her resilience, courage and determination. These challenges come as setbacks, failures, doubts and fears. It is in facing them head on that we uncover strength and potential.
