“Òpẹ́ ni fún Ọlórun”

I spoke to my 83 year old grandpa, always a nice time to catch up with him, most especially when he reflects over his journey and the lessons he learnt from the good and the bad.

“Òpẹ́ ni fún Ọlórun” — all praise to God — started every sentence when he remembers every part of his journey and takes no accolade for himself.

Rounding up with a smile from the other end of the phone, he said, “remember always remember the season you’re in in your life.” In his words, “I’m in the evening time of my life and there’s no too much. Enjoy your youth. Understand evening creeps in quietly when no one is paying attention. Wisdom is knowing what each season is demanding and adjusting accordingly.”

So when I think of my favorite season, I think of now. This season I’m in. A reminder to be aware, to live with intention and to not take this time for granted.

What is your favorite season of year? Why?
