I made a rookie mistake today. I jumped onto the train without checking the direction or the time—just rushed in, confident but clueless. Five stations later, I realized I was headed the wrong way. I’d missed the Google Maps prompt. I was literally on the other side of the tracks.
But that moment though frustrating, didn’t ruin my day. Instead, it reminded me of something deeper: Direction matters more than speed. It’s not how fast you’re going, but whether you’re going the right way. And direction? It doesn’t come out of nowhere. It comes from information. It comes from who or what you’re listening to.
So, who feeds my information? Who helps me stay on the right track?
Jesus.
His words shape my decisions. His example reminds me to pause and pay attention. His presence reorients me when I’ve gone too far in the wrong direction. Life has its missteps, but He remains my compass.
In answer to today’s prompt, what gives me direction in life?
Grace does. Truth does. Jesus does.
Here are a few snapshots from my day—frames of the journey, some literal, some figurative. Each one a reminder that even a wrong train can lead to the right reflection.
