I’ve come to realize that being nervous is something you never really outgrow—it just shows up in different forms. Anytime I’m stepping into unfamiliar territory or trying something for the very first time, that knot in my stomach tightens. There’s something about the fear of the unknown that always catches me off guard, whether it’s walking into a room full of strangers, tackling a new project, or even making small talk with someone I’ve just met.
When I first started MCing events, I’d feel my heart pound and my hands shake as I walked toward the microphone. But over time I found an anchor: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” That verse became my go-to mantra whenever the nerves crept in. Reminding myself of it doesn’t magically erase the butterflies, but it does help me pause, breathe, and step forward with more confidence—knowing that courage isn’t the absence of fear, but moving ahead despite it.

What makes you nervous?
