Steps of Serenity: A Father’s Lesson

I recently went on a long walk with my dad, This particular walk held a special significance in our lives, for it marked the first time we had strolled together since we lost my dear mum. In the midst of our grief, I decided to introduce my dad to the simple joy of regular walks.

On our way back, my dad shared that this was his longest walk to date, and a radiant smile graced his face. It was as if he had rediscovered the joy of life in those extra steps.

As we walked side by side, our conversation flowed effortlessly. we shared heartfelt conversations. We talked about my mum, our dreams, and the beauty of the world around us. It was a moment that transcended words, where the depth of connection between parent and child was felt.

My dad’s contentment with his walk became a source of inspiration. I had been training diligently for the Berlin marathon happening tomorrow, but an injury had cruelly interrupted my preparations. At times, I found myself nursing feelings of resentment and frustration, thinking about the race I would not run. I have come to learn that the journey is just as important as the destination and being grateful for the phase of life we find ourselves in is a profound wisdom. Every phase has its unique beauty, whether it’s a joyous sprint or a contemplative walk.
