Watching foreign movies on VCR tapes was the in thing when I was a child. As time passed, the world moved to using CDs for movies and back then, one disk was used to record several movies of the same genre and packaged as a collection. I remember saving my allowance a few times to buy a few series and movie collections. It was during this time that I first heard the word “Autumn”.
In Nigeria, when we talk about seasons, we have rainy and dry. However, temperate environments are characterised with 4 seasons of which Autumn, or as the Americans and Canadians say, Fall, is one of them. It is called Fall because it is the period of the year where the trees lose their leaves and they fall to the ground. During Autumn, the days are shorter and temperatures drop considerably. This means it is definitely the period to rock your warm clothing.
While there is a need to bundle up, your personal style does not have to suffer or get lost in the layers of clothing you wear. The must haves for the season include chunky sweaters, hoodies, coats, leather jackets, corduroy shirts, boots and the spectacular aso-oke two piece by Twelve19styles. As an African, the last item is very important as it helps me retain my identity while still being stylish. The aso-oke material is also great for the weather as it is woven from top to bottom and thus preventing cold air from reaching the skin.
It rains often in autumn and your wardrobe should also include clothings made from materials that provide a degree of protection from the rain. Become best friends with a handy but classy umbrella, making sure that it resides in your bag as even weather forecasts are not a hundred percent accurate.
The key to surviving Autumn is layering up. Make sure the warmest clothing items you own are the closest to your skin. Get quality clothing as you cannot afford to go cheap. One quality coat is better than several inferior ones.
Feel free to play with colours and layers as you do not need to dress to match the season’s colours. Spice up your outfits with accessories but above all, avoid looking overstuffed.
I enjoyed reading this and definitely doing some changes for my man from this pictures.didn’t realise how much my wardrobe has to change with the weather, until I came to the UK. Again we don’t have to break the bank every season if we have the season essentials. Thank you for a good write up 💪🏾
