Day8 : BY HIS STRIPES

Whenever I think about stripes, business, power and class comes to mind.  Pinstripe suits remain one of the most valuable pieces any man in the corporate industry should have in their wardrobe. If your job requires you to wear a suit everyday, you’re playing yourself big time if you don’t own one. Stripes can be a fantastic addition to your workwear wardrobe, adding a little bit of fun and flair to your style as a 9-5er.

You can wear a black pinstripe suit and a white shirt all week while switching the ties. This is because they don’t draw any attention and are better  in dark colors.

British bankers birthed the style in the 19th century. Although, back then, they were more interested in blending in than standing out. Banks even had their own stripe, varying in shade and weight, that identified who worked for which. Definitely not limited to the banking industry, they’re of great choice for anyone in business.

If you will be wearing a pinstripe you have to be very careful about the details on your tie or shirt, you don’t want to have too many contrasting details in your outfit. Mixing and matching patterns and colours is an art but we have to be very careful when matching stripes. Matching a striped shirt with a striped tie is a NO NO for me.

If your work requires you to wear a suit every day, you will be missing out on fine elegance if you do not have at least one of either black, blue or grey striped suits in your wardrobe. I hope in this post I’m able to convince you and not to confuse you that a striped suit is a must have.
