Create What You Wish Existed

I just found out there is something called a breast pump β€” hands up πŸ™ŒπŸΌ pardon my naivety, do not stone me πŸ˜‚

That discovery sent me down a rabbit hole of research. Who came up with this idea, and what problem were they trying to solve? Turns out, the first breast pump patent was filed in 1854 by Orwell H. Needham. Wild, right? One idea, born from a problem, that changed how millions of mothers live today.

It got me thinking. Every innovation starts with someone trying something for the first time. Someone daring to solve a problem, even if they did not have it all figured out. Lately, I have been on the side of creating, and the truth is, we need to create more of the things we want to see in the world.

Take this orange coat from @davidwejuk for example. I have yet to see anything like it in stores across London, mostly black, beige, and blue everywhere. And that is why we need to keep creating. Because we, as Black people, understand our stories, our problems, and our needs like no one else.

So maybe that is the challenge. What could you try for the first time? It does not have to be perfect. It just has to start.

Here is to every creator out there, Create freely. Do it afraid. And finish well

What could you try for the first time?
