Why Peterborough ?

Earlier this year my wife and I made a random switch of city to Peterborough from Chelmsford Essex. It felt almost like throwing a dart at the map and landing here. I didn’t know anyone, but in that moment it felt ideal, so we made the move.

Ever since, the question people keep asking—friends, family, even myself at times—has been: why Peterborough?

But after something that happened today, I found myself flipping the question around: why not Peterborough? As humans we only ever see what’s in front of us. We don’t always have the full picture, but sometimes the only way forward is to take a step, trust that inner nudging, and allow it to guide us. The challenge is, how do you trust that nudging if you don’t pay attention? If you don’t practice trusting in small things, in little steps, even in making mistakes and getting burnt, how do you ever learn what that voice inside is trying to tell you?

So today, looking back at where I am and the path that led here, I ask again—why not Peterborough?

What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?
