For me, peace comes from understanding capacity.
In life, we are all given different portions, some five, some three, some one. What matters most is not how much you are given but what you do with it. Too often we focus on asking, “What is this amongst so many?” instead of multiplying what we already have.
Capacity is not something handed to you, it is something you earn. You would not give a 58 year old who does not know how to drive a car just because of their age, and you would not hand a toddler the keys either. Why? Because capacity must be developed.
When I first started running, I could barely complete 1 km without my lungs screaming for mercy. But over time, I built my capacity. Now I can run a full marathon in one stretch. The same thing happened with reading the Bible; there was a time I would fall asleep after a single chapter, but years later I can read for hours, meditate, and draw deep nourishment from it.
It is the same principle in business, relationships, trust, and love. We often start with a little, but as we grow and prove faithful, we earn the capacity for more.
Knowing this, and knowing that God is a faithful rewarder, brings me peace. As long as I keep developing my capacity to multiply, I can rest assured that more will come in due time.
What brings you peace?
