Faith and the Creator’s Calling

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” But for so long, we’ve been taught faith from a selfish angle, where it’s all about getting things for ourselves: cars, houses, material stuff that won’t last, things we’ll eventually leave behind. Very little emphasis is placed on the kind of faith it takes to create something that outlives us—to build things that carry real impact.

From the very beginning, everything we now see came from someone who had faith. It started with the Master Creator, who called forth heaven and earth from a void. Nothing but faith spoke it into being. And it didn’t stop there. Creators like Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs, Leonardo da Vinci, Elon Musk, Marie Curie, Tim Berners-Lee, Pablo Picasso, Virgil Abloh, Davido, Maya Angelou, Martin Luther King Jr., Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah Winfrey, and Wizkid—these are people who created from nothing. They had faith. They led movements, sparked revolutions, created art, built industries, and shaped culture.

As a creator, you have to be a little delusional. Delusional enough to believe in what you don’t yet see. How do you have evidence for what’s still in the dark? How do you believe in chances and probabilities that haven’t yet taken form?

That’s what separates creators from consumers. Buyers wait for what exists. Creators believe into being what doesn’t. Imagine a world without creators, Imagine if we still used horses to travel,

Imagine if no one ever created wheelchairs, what happens to those who lose their legs? It takes faith and a heart that cares to build what doesn’t yet exist. We all have faith. The question is: how are you using yours?

I have faith in seeing stylish creatives use their unique sense of style as leverage to build wealth and create impact.

So as a creator, how do you use your faith?

What is your clear and definite purpose? What is the outcome you’re hoping for? What is the change you want to see? What movement are you leading?

You have to start seeing the unseen. You have to mentally picture the impact of what you’re building—Who are you creating for? How are they using it? How does it make them feel? A musician in the studio isn’t just making noise, They’ve got a picture in their mind: Is this a song to make people reflect? A club banger? A love story?

Action is the truest proof of faith. Even when nothing makes sense, taking action is how you show what you believe. Last week on my podcast, I spoke with Tolu AJ a rising creative who had faith in her photography dream. She didn’t have all the answers, but she took action. She reached out to her dad for a loan to buy her first camera. She didn’t know how she’d repay it, but that’s faith, you can check out our conversation here https://youtu.be/LKxTbWd6-hU?si=7XlMiS9L51iOthKx

With action comes conviction And over time, clarity follows.

Faith doesn’t mean denying the reality of the challenges in front of you, it means staying grounded and steadfast in the midst of it, still believing in your desired outcome.

So the real question is: What are you creating—and how is your faith leading the way?

What do you listen to while you work?
