How do you want to retire?
Honestly, I’ve never really thought about retirement—at least not in the way most people talk about it. I doubt there’s even such a thing as retirement in my line of work. What I do isn’t just a job—it’s a lifestyle. It’s built into my daily habits: speaking, writing, creating, building, showing up. These aren’t things you clock in and out of; they’re part of who I am.
So when people ask me, “How do you want to retire?” I pause. Because what would I even be retiring from? Sharing ideas? Pouring into others? Creating something meaningful? I can’t imagine ever getting to a point where I say, “I’m done with that.”
Maybe for me, retirement won’t be a full stop—it’ll be a gentle shift. Less hustle, more flow. Maybe I’ll slow down, move at a different pace, choose more intentionally what I give my energy to. But completely stop? I don’t see it. Not when the work itself feels like breathing.
