Over the years as a creative in the industry, one recurring observation stands out: many younger professionals often underestimate the value of their own experiences and insights. They tend to believe that those at the top possess all the answers or hold a mysterious formula for success.
But here’s the truth I’ve come to understand, most senior colleagues are figuring things out just like everyone else. The difference is that experience has taught them to act boldly and make decisions with confidence, even in uncertainty.
Never discredit your own knowledge or experience simply because others have gone ahead of you. Their path is not your assignment. The solution you’ve been entrusted to deliver is unique, shaped by the grace and perspective you carry. As the Scriptures say of David, “I have more understanding than my teachers”—not out of arrogance, but because revelation and insight are not confined to age or status. Wisdom can come to anyone who is attentive and yielded.
Celebrate the grace upon your life. Recognize that it is the same God, the same Spirit, who works in us all. Learn from those ahead of you, yes, but walk in the confidence of your own calling. And as you grow, remain humble, remembering Paul, who was given a thorn in his flesh to keep him grounded.
You are equipped. You are called. And your voice matters.
