What Makes Me Feel Nostalgic

There’s something magical about music. It’s more than just sound; it’s a portal, a time machine, a storyteller in its own right. For me, music has always been the one thing that effortlessly carries me back through the corridors of my memory. One song that will forever “gbemi debe” (uplift me) is “Oluaye ni Berlin” by King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (Kwam 1)

From the ancient Baptist hymnal, to the pulsating beats of Juju and Fuji music that thrived in their own cultural glory. Each note, each lyric takes me back to moments long gone. And then there’s the Y2K hip-hop era, a soundtrack to a time when life was simpler.

When I listen, I feel like a passenger, taking the back seat while music takes the wheel, driving me down memory lane.

As I listen now, I realize music is not just sound; it’s the keeper of my past, the voice of my memories, and the bridge that connects me to those treasured moments. It’s what makes me feel nostalgic—every single time.

What makes you feel nostalgic?
