Seeing London Like a Tourist – A Local’s Perspective

If you started a sports team, what would the colors and mascot be?

If I were to start a sports team, the colors would undoubtedly be purple—striped purple and solid purple to be precise. Why purple? Honestly, I can’t quite explain it, but there’s something about the richness of the color that feels both regal and bold, embodying the spirit of a team ready to dominate. As for the mascot, I envision a fierce yet endearing lion—a symbol of strength, resilience, and a nod to the timeless iconography of London.

Speaking of London, today, I had the rare chance to play tourist in my own city. They say a prophet is not honored in their hometown, and perhaps that’s why I’ve never fully appreciated what draws millions of people to London each year.

But stepping into the role of a visitor alongside my family was a refreshing experience, helping me see the city in a whole new light.

We started the day at Knightsbridge before heading to Covent Garden, where we indulged in an unforgettable Chinese meal at Din Tai Fung. From there, we strolled the lively streets, soaking in the city’s beauty and energy. Of course, chaos reigned as it often does in London on match days, with multiple football games being hosted across the city.

The hustle and bustle were undeniable, but there’s something lovable about London’s chaotic charm—especially when you’re sharing it with family.

Outfit of the day:

• Denim Shirt: H&M

• Denim Jeans: H&M

• Jacket: H&M
