Transitioning through seasons

Have you ever paused to observe life’s transitions? I find joy in the unique qualities of each nature seasons – the warmth of summer, the crispness of autumn, the thick dark nights of winter, and the early blooms of spring. Humans also undergo seasons, each with its value and actions. In the winter, you don’t go swimming; you go skiing, In the summer, you don’t wear a wool; you wear linen (because they’re breathable) so you can stay cool, Just as you plant crops in spring for a fall harvest, there are appropriate actions in each life season. Life unfolds in a sequence – baby, child, teenager, adult – with each season serving a purpose.

I find Solomon’s wisdom on seasons to be profound, acknowledging the existence of a specific time and season for every activity under the heavens. According to Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, there’s a designated time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to uproot. This understanding extends to our interactions with society – there’s a time to take and a time to give back, forming a continuous cycle that sustains the world. During my teenage years, I benefited from mentorship provided by various men in my life, including my father, grandfather, pastors, boss and older friends. Their guidance helped me navigate the paths they had walked. Despite ongoing mentorship, I am now in a season where I feel compelled to share the knowledge and reflections accumulated over the years. Recognizing that each season has its own purpose and beauty, I understand the importance of doing what’s right in its appointed time. Similar to being a fashionista, I acknowledge that wearing a fur jacket in summer, despite my love for it, is inappropriate as the season does not permit it.

Navigating these life seasons requires awareness and consciousness. Regardless of the current season, there are no winners or losers; each offers advantages. Life’s different stages influence us, and judging based on the present moment is limiting. Every season has a purpose, and change is inevitable. Acknowledging our unique stories prevents unhealthy comparisons. Just as nature’s seasons should be observed, reflect on your life’s seasons amid the noisy world. In the ongoing journey of life, change is inevitable. Rather than fearing it, consider viewing change as an opportunity for improvement, enhancement, and the invitation of new experiences into your life—you deserve it.

What season are you currently experiencing in your life? Is change happening, or are you celebrating the transformations that have already occurred? Share your reflections in the comments section below.
