I know mixing and matching colors, patterns and sets can be a complex task for men. The women in your life pull it off quite easy but when its your turn things just get a bit messy.
Don’t worry. You’re not alone. At least 80% of the men in the world are in the same situation as you (obviously I am not one of them but for the purpose of this conversation lets call me an ally).
As an ally I understand your plight and I know it’s why you choose to fill up your wardrobe with black pants and white shirts. You’re playing it safe, I get it, and I want to let you in on a secret…. You can play it safe with colors too. The westerners call it ‘Monochrome’ but I like to think about it as ‘One blow, seven die’. In my country that means ‘minimum effort, maximum results’.
The science behind Monochrome is using variations of a single color, usually differing only in tone or other shade to achieve a well finished look. If you’ve never been bold enough to wear colors but have always envied men that do, monochrome is a safe place for you to start. Buy a daring color, in different shades and tones, and put them together. If you’re super stylish, take it a step further by playing with some of the details eg a pair of black striped trousers over a solid black shirt, or a pair of blue checkered pants over a solid blue shirt. The devil is in the details.
Below are a couple of my favorite Monochrome outfits featuring 2 and 3 piece clothing. As expected, one blow, seven die.
