Day13 : Sage Green is Evergreen! My 5 Sage Green Event Looks

In my last couple of posts, we established that checkered suits and pants are
fashion forward and a must have for stylish men. In this post,  I’m bringing in a
mix of checkered and Sage and sharing how you can style your suit for various
events.

Scenario: Adulthood is scamming you. You have a busy weekend ahead with 5 different events to attend. You have to be at a work related conference on Friday, then catch up with your boys later in the evening for drinks. On Saturday your close friend is getting  married to the love of his life so you need to show up and show out, and on Sunday you’ve got to be at church before you head out for your favorite artistes concert later on. You’re low on cash and the only new clothing item you have in your closet is a sage green double breasted suit.  Is it starting to feel like the story of the 5 loaves of bread and two fish? Or when Jesus turned
water to wine? Because that’s kind of the concept. We need 5 looks, for 5 events, with only one suit. Here are my top 5 tips for pulling off each event…

1.     Friday, Work conference: Now here, you want to create a corporate
look that stands out from others at the conference while also looking good enough to meet with your pals later in the day. Will you go home to change? Probably not- so your goal is to make sure this looks slaps! How?
I would do the full suit, with a light blue shirt and a polka dot navy blue tie, a pair of blue socks and a pair of  black shoes for the work conference. Keep reading to see how we switch it up.

2.     Drinks with the boys: Conference is over. You’re moving straight to
your next location after a long day, to unwind with your guys. I’m taking
my tie and jacket off, rolling up my sleeves to create a more relaxing look,
taking off my socks and brown shoes, and putting on a pair of mules. You
want to bring a duffel bag with you to work so that you can make those
quick switch ups. Trust me these tiny changes will make a massive
difference when you hit the streets. Plus, we’ve created yet another look
entirely with the checkered pants and blue shirt.

3.     Saturday, Wedding: I would go monochrome here- black pants, white
shirt, black bow tie, and red socks to give it a pop of color. you can also
throw in a floral pocket square to make it even more stylish. The trick
with weddings is to get people to do a double take without outshining the
groom. Less is more.

4.     Sunday morning, Church: It’s been a long weekend at this point. You’re
probably still drunk from the wedding or battling a crazy hangover. If
you’re from Nigeria and live in Lagos, you probably got home about an
hour before the sun came up! It’s easy to skip church but you’re trying to
prioritize better and you’ve sworn to heaven that you won’t miss Sunday
service for anything. I’ve been there too many times to count and my trick
here is to keep it simple and stress free. I would repeat the look from
Saturday but this time replace the white shirt with a black shirt. At this
point I definitely can’t find my bow tie because the after party of the
wedding was wild, so I forget about it. I go all black with a pair of black loafers  (and confuse people so they don’t suspect my hangover
because I look too damn stylish!). Trust me this tip works every single
time! You’re welcome!

5.     Sunday evening, Concert Day: It’s been a long weekend but those
Davido tickets you got for 200 quid are certainly not going to waste. So as
the bad boy you are, you resolve to close out the weekend with a bang!
You’re probably between 30 and 40 so the gray hairs are starting to pile
up and your hairline is starting to betray you. This is when I connect with
my inner Gen Z and give them some new age looks. I would style up my
jacket with a pair of jeans, a black t-shirt, you can go with a pair of white or black sneakers.
This look says- I got my own money but I can still hang with these kids!
And it works like a charm!

So these are my 5 Sage Green looks for 5 events and they're evergreen! Plus, they
save me a ton of cash in dry cleaning. Stylish and sustainable!
